Stefano Fogelberg Rota

Stefano Fogelberg Rota (1975) attained his PhD in Compared Literature at Stockholm University (2008) with a doctoral dissertation entitled Poesins drottning. Christina av Sverige och de italienska akademierna (The Queen of poetry: Christina of´Sweden and the Italian academies), Nordic Academic Press, Lund 2008.
Fogelberg Rota currently holds the Wenner-Gren Foundations post-doctoral scholarship for research at LUMSA-university in Rome. In his project, “Court Ballet in Sweden during the Great Power Era: The Development of complex narratives in the Ballets’ librettos”, he focuses on the ballets’ literary expression and its relationship to propagandistic and stage design strategies. The influence of Italian 16th and 17th century stage architecture is a theme of major importance for the narrative development of Swedish 17th century ballets. His research interests lie – as his previous studies on Queen Christina of Sweden’s literary patronage in Rome – on courtly milieus and on the formation of aristocratic ideals in literary and theatrical spheres.
